My Medicare

We have registered for MyMedicare – now you can too.

MyMedicare is a new voluntary registration system that will help us strengthen the relationship between us and our patients.

MyMedicare allows you to nominate a general practice and general practitioner as your regular healthcare provider. When you register in MyMedicare, extra funding from the Australian Government becomes available to support our practice to provide more of the targeted care you need.

Patients who register with our practice in MyMedicare may benefit from:
• longer MBS-funded telephone consultations from 1 November 2023
• longer bulk billed telehealth consultations for children under 16 from 1 November 2023
• more regular visits from their GP and better care planning for people living in a Residential
Aged Care Home, from August 2024
• connections to more appropriate care in general practice for people with chronic conditions who visit hospital frequently, from mid-2024.

Formalising the patient-practice relationship, like with MyMedicare, has been shown to improve health and wellbeing, and that is why we are inviting all of our regular patients to register in MyMedicare.

If you have a valid Medicare card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran card and have had at least one face- to-face consultation with us in the last 24 months, you are eligible for MyMedicare.

Registration is easy. To register as a MyMedicare patient, you can:
• fill out a paper registration form at our practice
• complete the registration process in your Medicare Online Account
• ask our team to start the registration process – you can then complete registration in your Medicare Online Account.

Ask about MyMedicare next time you talk to us. For more information visit health.gov.au/mymedicare

MY HEALTH RECORD
ALL Australians now have a “My Health Record” unless they choose to opt-out. It is an online summary of your key health information, it may include:
· An overview of your health uploaded by your doctor
· Hospital discharge summaries
· Reports from testsand scans
· Medications your doctor hasprescribed
· Medicare and Pharmaceutical benefits scheme information
· Organ donation decisions
· Immunisation history
Your health information can be viewed securely online, from anywhere at any time – even if you travel interstate. Which means that in an emergency, healthcare providers can access important information about you, which may save your life. It also means you don't have to remember the names of your medications or recent tests you may have had.

PACE (Pulmonary and Caridac Exercise and Education program)
The PACE program has commenced being funded by Murray Primary Health Network through Alpine Health. This program involves development of a Cardiac / COPD rehabilitation clinic using group exercise programs. You can learn more about Alpine Health's PACE Program here. If you are interestedinbeing involved please talk to your doctor.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that we bulk bill all young people who live in the area and are still at school? We need their medicare number and if they are a minor, the medicare number, name and date of birth of aparent. We can then transmit the account directly to Medicare so there is no out of pocket expence.
