MBMC NEWS

Welcome Joe and Lydia

It’s that time of the year again! Welcome to our 2025 Melbourne University students Joe and Lydia. They will be working with us for most of this year, gaining valuable experience with our GPs before they graduate. Joe and Lydia will be seeing patients along with one of our GP supervisors.

MEDICAL STAFF UPDATE

THANK YOU - We would like to express our sincerest thanks to our patients for being so understanding over the past few months where waiting times for appointment were quite tight.

We hope that with the return of Dr Skye Delaney and Dr Lauren Cussen as well as our new doctor Dr Vanessa Cservid, appointments will become more readily available.

We continue to encourage you to book your appointment in advance particularly if you want to see a specific doctor.

The End of an Era

We are really sad to announce that Dr Mark Zagorski has decided that it is time for him to enjoy some rest and leisure time after working at Mount Beauty Medical Centre for over 40 years. Mark has been an integral part of our practice and while we will miss him immensely, we are happy that he will get to spend more time with his family and do the travelling that he and Jane enjoy. Mark’s retirement date is 26th September 2024

Filming at MBMC

Did anyone notice a film crew at the Medical Centre and wonder what we were doing?

The Neighbourhood Centre are marketing their “4 Ms Older Persons’ project with the Medical Centre being involved in development of a video with local celebrities Barb and Dick and Dr Laura. The video depicts what people should consider before and during a consultation with their doctor. We look forward to seeing the end result.

Here are some wonderful pictures of the happy celebrities.

My Medicare

We have registered for MyMedicare – now you can too.

MyMedicare is a new voluntary registration system that will help us strengthen the relationship between us and our patients.

MyMedicare allows you to nominate a general practice and general practitioner as your regular healthcare provider. When you register in MyMedicare, extra funding from the Australian Government becomes available to support our practice to provide more of the targeted care you need.

Patients who register with our practice in MyMedicare may benefit from:

  • longer MBS-funded telephone consultations from 1 November 2023

  • longer bulk billed telehealth consultations for children under 16 from 1 November 2023

  • more regular visits from their GP and better care planning for people living in a Residential Aged Care Home, from August 2024

  • connections to more appropriate care in general practice for people with chronic conditions who visit hospital frequently, from mid-2024.

Formalising the patient-practice relationship with MyMedicare, has been shown to improve health and wellbeing. That is why we are inviting all of our regular patients to register in MyMedicare.

If you have a valid Medicare card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran card and have had at least one face- to-face consultation with us in the last 24 months, you are eligible for MyMedicare.

Registration is easy. To register as a MyMedicare patient, you can:

  • fill out a paper registration form at our practice

  • complete the registration process in your Medicare Online Account

  • ask our team to start the registration process – you can then complete registration in your Medicare Online Account.

Ask about MyMedicare next time you talk to us. For more information visit health.gov.au/mymedicare
