On the weekend of the 27th of October we will be changing our medical software from Genie to Best Practice. As the conversion of the data will be done over the whole weekend, we are anticipating some disruptions to our Saturday 27th September clinic. On Monday the 29th our appointments may also be limited as it will require all staff to assist in the change to the system. We will be rostering extra administration staff to try and alleviate waiting time on the phone and in reception and whilst we iron out any hiccups and learn how to use the new software.  Our online booking system won't be available for a period of two weeks during the changeover but will be back up and running as soon as possible.

We have chosen Best Practice because it is well established as the market leader in Australian General Practice software. It provides the tools needed to effectively manage our patient's care and improve our practices efficiency. It supports busy doctors to maintain quality electronic patient records, transmit information securely, produce safe and legible prescriptions and better manage preventive health care protocols for patients. Best Practice features an advanced billing and appointment book module and is compatible with the national e-health records.

PRACTICE EMAIL – Please be aware.

Mount Beauty Medical Centre prefer patients to contact them by phone. If patients wish to send an email to the practice it should only be under NON-URGENT circumstances. We do NOT access our emails every day and the doctor that you may address your email to, may not be in the practice for several days. While we prefer to respond to emails by phone rather than return email any information that Mount Beauty Medical Centre send via email will only be of a general nature.

Kangaroo Hoppet 2018

We had a lot of staff from Mount Beauty Medical Centre (and their families) participate in the 2018 Hoppet. Dr Skye did the 42km in 253 minutes beating her personal best and finishing 4th in her age group, what a fantastic effort! Atila finished the 42kms in 322mins. Dr Lauren and Ebony Tanzen participated in the Birkebeiner finishing in 206 mins and 139 mins respectively. Ellie Robinson, Jesse, Jamie and Damo Heman all participated in the Joey. Dr Zag was unable to participate due to personal illness, this is only the second time in 26 years that he has not raced.

We have had a lot to celebrate at the Medical Centre over the past month!!

1.     Our nurse Joy is a Grandmother for the fourth time, with her daughter Sarah welcoming a beautiful baby boy, Harrison, on the 3rd of September.

2.     Atila proposed to Dr Lauren T and of course she said yes, exciting times ahead.

Congratulations to Joy, Dr Lauren and all their families.

The day is about inspiring people to start these conversations every day of the year.  Help get your school, workplace and community asking,"Are you ok?”. For more information visit:

ALL Australians now have a “My Health Record” unless they choose to opt-out. It is an online summary of your key health information, it may include:

·     An overview of your health uploaded by your doctor

·     Hospital discharge summaries

·     Reports from tests and scans

·     Medications your doctor has prescribed

·     Medicare and Pharmaceutical benefits scheme information

·     Organ donation decisions

·     Immunisation history

Your health information can be viewed securely online, from anywhere at any time – even if you travel interstate. Which means that in an emergency, healthcare providers can access important information about you, which may save your life. It also means you don't have to remember the names of your medications or recent tests you may have had.

There are still FREE government shingles vaccination for people aged between 70 and 79. PACE (Pulmonary and Caridac Exercise and Education program)

The PACE program has commenced being funded by Murray Primary Health Network through Alpine Health. This program involves development of a Cardiac / COPD rehabilitation clinic using group exercise programs. You can learn more about Alpine Health's PACE Program here. If you are interested in being involved please talk to your doctor.

Did you know that we bulk bill all young people who live in the area and are still at school? We need their medicare number and if they are a minor, the medicare number, name and date of birth of a parent. We can then transmit the account directly to Medicare so there is no out of pocket expence.

Did you know that Mount Beauty Medical Centre doctors are on-call afterhours 75% of the year – every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night, every public holiday, every day over the Christmas and Easter periods and every third Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. If you ring the hospital, the nurse will triage you and contact the doctor if needed or requested.
